Nari Gunjan strives to empower disadvantaged women, children, and communities residing in Bihar, particularly Musahar communities, by providing educational services, setting up residential hostels, conducting health education campaigns, protecting children’s rights, leadership building and livelihood generation activities.
Education & Learning Opportunities
Education plays an important role in bringing about social change. By means of our various educational institutions such as Prerana Hostels, Kishori Kendras, Anand Shiksha Kendras, and community schools, we help impart education to children and adolescent girls from poor backgrounds by teaching them literacy, life skills, leadership skills, and giving them hope for a better tomorrow.
Women’s Empowerment & Leadership Development
The empowerment and development of women from vulnerable communities is one of the major aspects in which Nari Gunjan plays a significant role. This is achieved through the implementation of programs aimed at increasing women’s self-confidence and self-awareness, promoting rights awareness among women, and helping them take leadership roles in society.
Child Protection, Health & Community Development
Child protection and improvement of the health status of people in communities form one of the primary objectives of Nari Gunjan. This includes a number of interventions in terms of child protection, rehabilitation, health awareness programs, nutrition programs, prevention of child marriages, and much more.

Even today, Nari Gunjan remains an instrument for social change, empowering women, educating children and building the capacities of marginalized communities in Bihar. The history of our organization is a reflection of many years of commitment to equality, dignity and opportunities for all people who have been marginalized for far too long.
Empowering Girls through Education
At the core of Nari Gunjan’s philosophy lies the issue of education. Through our Prerana Hostels, Kishori Kendras, Anand Shiksha Kendras and other centers, Nari Gunjan offers educational opportunities and life skills development programs to underprivileged children and adolescent girls.
Women’s Empowerment
Working together with marginalized women, Nari Gunjan promotes qualities such as leadership, confidence, knowledge of their rights and economic empowerment. Various trainings, community mobilizations and advocacy initiatives are conducted to make women active members of decision making processes in their families and communities.
Ensuring the Safety and Rehabilitation of Children and Youth
Our child welfare services aim to provide care, education, safety, and rehabilitation for disadvantaged children through residential homes, educational activities, adoption processes, and anti-trafficking projects that will help children flourish in safe and enabling environments.
Promoting Good Health and Well-Being Amongst Communities
Through various health awareness activities, campaigns, health camps, and other community programs, Nari Gunjan is committed to promoting health among communities. Special emphasis is placed on the need to educate marginalized groups such as women, children, senior citizens, and other disadvantaged communities about good health practices.

Ever since 1987, the objective of Nari Gunjan has been to improve the quality of life of women, children, and marginalized groups residing in the state of Bihar, specifically focusing on the Musahar community. With our efforts in enhancing education, increasing health awareness, protecting children, empowering leaders and people socially, we aim to provide an environment where each and every individual is able to exercise their rights and achieve their full potential.
With a wide variety of programs such as the Prerana Hostels, Kishori Kendras, Anand Shiksha Kendras, community learning centers, health programs, child protection programs, and programs empowering women, we ensure that sustainable change is created within these communities.
